ASEAN and Japan Advancing with Energy Efficiency

The Inception Meeting of the ASEAN-Japan Energy Efficiency Partnership (AJEEP) was held on 27-28 July 2017 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Meeting was hosted by Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA) and participated by energy efficiency and conservation (EE&C) Focal Points from ASEAN Member State (AMS) to discuss the accomplishments and priorities of AJEEP programme under the Senior Officials Meeting on Energy – Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (SOME-METI) Work Programme 2017-2018.

The Meeting generated useful outcomes and recommendations to firm up the plan of AJEEP activities as follows: i. AJEEP Scheme 2 focusing on Energy Management includes Practical Energy Manager Training – Training of Trainer (TOT); ii. AJEEP Scheme 3 focusing on the establishment of Energy Conservation (EC) Laws and Standard and Labelling (S&L) in Cambodia and Lao PDR; iii. Energy Conservation Workshop under AJEEP (ECAP) includes ECAP 12 on Energy Management System, EC Guideline, EM Manual, ECAP 13 on Energy Management Procedure and Energy Audit, ECAP 14 on Building Energy Code and Research Forum for ASEAN Energy Awards. The Meeting agreed on the priorities of AJEEP programme to support the goal of ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation Phase I on EE&C to reduce energy intensity by 20% in 2020 based on the 2005 level.
