Enhancing Standard & Labelling in Cambodia

The 1st Workshop for Cambodia on the ASEAN-Japan Energy Efficiency Partnership Programme (AJEEP) Scheme 3 under the ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Energy-Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (SOME-METI) Work Programme 2017-2018 was held on 15-17 August 2017 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Hosted by the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) of Cambodia, the Workshop was attended by the representatives from the MME, Electricité du Cambodge, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Industry and Handicrafts, Ministry of Economy and Finance, Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, Institute of Technology of Cambodia. Also in attendance were the Energy Conservation Center, Japan (ECCJ) and the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE).  The Workshop aims to assist Cambodia in the establishment of energy efficiency (EE) policy, standard and labelling (S&L) system, and energy management system.

During the Workshop, the Technical Working Group (TWG) from relevant Ministries and Organisations had the opportunity to review the current status of the Legal Framework Arrangement in Cambodia. Further improvement on the draft of S&L System was also discussed.

In the preparation for Energy Management System arrangement, the TWG has implemented the Trial Data Collection in factories in order to set the threshold for designated , which is the first step to establish the Energy Management System in Cambodia. (AJ. Featured photo credit:  ECCJ).
