Competition Categories
and Number of Entries
1) New and Existing Category;
2) Tropical Building Category;
3) Retrofitted Category; and
4) Special Submission:
Each Member Country may nominate and endorse a maximum of two entries for categories 1 and 2; and only one entry for
for each sub category under Special Submission.
New and existing building category
(i) Open category
(ii) Building must be not more than 5 years old
Tropical building category
(i) Open category
(ii) Air-conditioning up to 50 percent of total gross floor
area (GFA)
(iii) Not less than GFA 500 square meters excluding
car park area
(iv) Exclude religious buildings
(v) Building must not be more than 5 years old
Retrofitted building category
(i) This category refers to building where major changes
and improvements have already been introduced to
improve energy efficiency
(ii) The age of the building must be more than five (5)
years old.
Special submission category
(i) This category refers to special projects which study,
apply, and/or develop innovative technologies which
could be applied to reduce energy consumption
in buildings.
(ii) The aim is to promote the development of innovative
energy efficiency-related solutions together with
ASEAN wisdom.
