  ASEAN ENERGY AWARDS 2003
 

 

 

Introduction

 
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations launched the first ASEAN Energy Awards (AEA) starting with energy efficient buildings on the occasion of the 18th Senior Officials Meeting on Energy/ASEAN Ministers of Energy Meeting (SOME/AMEM) held in Hanoi, Vietnam on 2 July 2000. The AEA is a joint undertaking of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation-Sub-sector Network (EE&C-SSN) of the ASEAN Energy Cooperation and the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE). 

The objectives of the ASEAN Energy Awards are: 1). to promote regional cooperation in various fields of energy such as energy efficiency and conservation and 2). to serve as a platform to generate opportunities and interests of the private sector to be involved in energy development of the ASEAN region in partnership with the public sector. 

The Awardees of the AEA for Energy Efficient Buildings shall be chosen through the ASEAN EE&C Best Practices Competition. The entries, which are already determined energy efficient based on agreed standards, shall be endorsed and nominated by the respective EE&C Focal Points of the ASEAN Member Countries. The entries will be evaluated by a Board of Judges formed jointly by the ACE and the EE&C-SSN. The Members of the Board will consist mostly of architects and electrical engineers highly regarded in their countries. There will be a principal judge and an alternate judge to be nominated yearly by the ASEAN EE&C-SSN Focal Points.
