ASEAN+3 Mitigation Cooperation Programme

Background
The Government of Korea through the Ministry of Knowledge Economy (MKE) expressed her interest for new cooperation program on Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) under the framework of the ASEAN+3 Consultations during the 4th AMEM+3 in Singapore in August 2007. At the 5th AMEM+3 meeting held in Bangkok, Thailand on 07 August 2008, the Republic of Korea presented its proposal and the Ministers welcomed Korea’s offer for cooperation on CDM to widen opportunities for CDM projects in energy to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and promote sustainable development in the ASEAN+3 region through activities enhancing capacity building. In 2011, the cooperation was expanded to include NAMA. In 2013, the ASEAN+3/SOME+3 agreed to change the title of the programme to ASEAN+3 Mitigation Cooperation Programme.

Overall Objectives
The 2014 program aims at strengthening the cooperation of ASEAN+3 Member States in GHG Mitigation, Capacity Building and information sharing on GHG Mitigation, and Developing business opportunities on GHG Mitigation

Funding
The Korean Government through the the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) will provide funding support to the ASEAN+3 Nuclear Human Resources Development Programme
