The annual output of oil and gas at Changqing, China's fifth
biggest oil and gas field located in the Erdos Basin in the
northern autonomous region of Inner Mongolia, has exceeded
10 mln tons (oil equivalent) for the first time, according
to reports in China's state media. The breakthrough means
that the oilfield - designated by the central government as
one of the "strategic substitute regions" which will replace
the depleting fields of the east - has reached a new stage
in its development, according to a report in Zhongguo Xinwen
She (China News Service).
Chen Gengjie, the vice-manager of the oilfield's parent
company, PetroChina, was quoted as saying that the total
crude oil output at Changqing would exceed 7 mln tons this
year, while output of natural gas would stand at 5 bln cu m,
the second biggest volume in the country. Up to now, an
accumulated total of 1.19 bln tons of oil have been proven
at Changqing Oilfield. It also holds 110 bln cu m of natural
gas. Total cumulative output of oil stands at 63.86 mln
tons. Meanwhile, total cumulative output of natural gas
stands at 15.8 bln cu m. |
