Description

ASEAN Center for Energy (ACE), in cooperation with Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL), is inviting you to join the Clean Energy Transition Roundtable 2021: Energy Transition Trends in ASEAN and Plus Three (+3) Countries on Thursday 27th May 2021.

The urgency to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 to limit global warming below 2˚C has emphasised the need for countries to plan their clean energy transitions. Countries need further efforts to improve their energy security, increase energy diversification, and reduce fossil fuel imports. They compound that current trends indicate that SDG-7 goals – universal access to modern and reliable energy, increasing renewable energy share and doubling energy efficiency improvement – is not on course to be met by 2030. As of 2018, 789 million people do not have access to electricity, and 2.8 billion people lack clean cooking solutions. Though much more efforts are needed, it is clear that clean energy solutions have demonstrated the ability to fast-track the closing of access deficits while aligning with Paris agreement climate action goals.

Join us with experts from think tanks, practitioners, and academia to get the latest updates on clean energy commitments and opportunities for clean energy cooperation in ASEAN+3 and ASEAN.
